"Advocacy Group Calls for Decriminalization of Abortion"

Increasing availability of condoms in schools
HDI and IPAR held a one-day meeting at Lemigo Hotel in Kigali to validate the results of the survey on safe sex and accessibility of condoms they conducted in secondary schools. Read more on AllAfrica.com.

HDI launches campaign to improve access condoms for youth
HDI, in collaboration with the Rwanda NGO Forum on HIV/AIDS and Health Promotion and AIMR, have launched a national advocacy campaign to raise awareness and support access to condoms for secondary school youth. Currently, unofficial school policy outlaws condoms in schools. Read more, here here, and here.

Campaign launched to support women's reproductive rights
HDI recently launched a campaign to address Rwanda's restrictive abortion law, in light of women's unmet family planning need and the negative impacts of the law on women's health. For instance, unsafe abortion - which women resort to when legal, medical methods are unavailable - contributes to 14% of maternal mortality in Eastern and Southern Africa.
