"Advocacy Group Calls for Decriminalization of Abortion"
HDI has partnered with the Rwanda Association for Family Welfare (ARBEF) to host a two-day workshop to address sexual and reproductive health and rights, including access to safe abortion. HDI, in collaboration with the Rwanda NGO Forum on HIV/AIDS and Health Promotion and AIMR, have launched a national advocacy campaign to raise awareness and support access to condoms for secondary school youth. HDI recently launched a campaign to address Rwanda's restrictive abortion law, in light of women's unmet family planning need and the negative impacts of the law on women's health. For instance, unsafe abortion - which women resort to when legal, medical methods are unavailable - contributes to 14% of maternal mortality in Eastern and Southern Africa. educated on Patients’ Rights
HDI is launching a project to educate health care providers and communities on Patients’ Rights. The project kick-started with a two-day training for health care providers from health facilities in Gasabo District. Read more on the New Times. |
