Our
Core Values
HDI is driven by respect for and promotion of four core values, which we incorporate into all of our projects and activities. These core values are: Community Participation HDI values partnerships and strategies that empower families and communities to participate in health promotion and decision-making. Gender Equality HDI values an approach that understands and prioritizes the equal needs and rights of women and girls. Human Rights HDI values strategies to promote and protect individual human rights, especially the right to health. Local experience and knowledge HDI values the contribution and collaboration of local communities to develop projects that respond to and address their unique health needs.
Our
Key Competencies
Over the last six years, HDI has developed key competencies that bring added value to our work, our partnerships, and the Rwandan health sector. These key competencies are: Extensive understanding of the Rwandan health system HDI’s General Assembly is composed of Rwandan physicians living and working in health facilities and institutions across the country, providing strong ties to the medical community and the health sector as a whole. Promotion of health and human rights HDI was founded by a group of physicians who are also some of the leading Rwandan human rights promoters, bringing added value to the advancement of health as a human right. Innovation in community health development HDI understands that health and community development are inextricably linked. We utilize innovative and engaging strategies to empower communities to participate in dual development processes |
